We know that bringing a new life into the world will be one of the biggest, most thrilling days of your life. So we’ve made the process of umbilical cord blood collection and preservation incredibly simple and hassle-free. |
1 |
Once you enroll, you get your own PacifiCord Collection Kit. We’ll also introduce you to your PacifiCord representative, who’s there to answer your questions, talk with your OB, and assist in sample collection and delivery. |
2 |
When the big day (or night) arrives, be sure to bring your collection kit with you to the hospital. Our cord bank collection process is simple, safe and painless, and will not interfere with your delivery in any way. Your OBGYN will know just what to do. |

Prior to delivery of the placenta (or, in rare cases, after delivery of your placenta), your healthcare professional cleans an area of the umbilical cord with an antiseptic solution. He or she then inserts a needle into the umbilical vein for collection into a blood bag. |
4 |
After 2-4 minutes the umbilical vein is emptied, and the blood bag is clamped, sealed and labeled, then placed back into our PacifiCord Collection Kit. Shortly after collection, call our toll free number – (888) 379-CORD (2673), and PacifiCord will pick up your collection kit. |
5 |
Your cord blood goes directly from your hands to ours – from bedside to our cord bank lab within hours. Upon arrival, your newborn’s cord blood is screened for diseases, and your baby's cord blood is tested to confirm that it is free from microbiological contamination. We perform the entire process within 24 hours* – and well within the cord banking industry standard of 48 hours (just another benefit of being a local cord blood bank.) |
